Did you know?

Along with being a pet photographer, I’m also a Certified Trick Dog Trainer who believes in using only positive reinforcement and force-free methods. With the colder and rainier months ahead, I’ll be focusing more on my trick dog accounts, Do More With Your Dog UK. If you’re interested in teaching your pup some new tricks or simply love watching adorable pooches show off their skills, I’d love for you to follow along below!

But why trick training? Here’s why it’s fantastic for you and your pup:

Mental Exercise

Pups need mental stimulation just like humans. Teaching them new tricks challenges their brain in a fun way. Whether it’s learning to roll over, jump through a hoop, or fetch a specific toy, it keeps your pup sharp, engaged, and happy—perfect for active dogs that need more than just physical exercise.

Indoor Fun for Rainy Days

With unpredictable UK weather, trick training is a lifesaver. You don’t need much space to teach a paw shake, spin, or sit pretty, making it the ideal rainy-day activity when a long walk isn’t an option.

Less Pressure, More Fun

Obedience training can feel serious, and people sometimes worry about getting it wrong. But trick training? It’s lighthearted! The stakes are much lower. If your pup doesn’t learn to roll over, it’s no big deal. It’s all about having fun and learning how to communicate with your pooch along the way.

Yes, Your Pup Can Get Paid!

Believe it or not, trick training can lead to modelling gigs. Some pups even land paid jobs in adverts and commercials. My Irish Terrier, Deedee, was recently featured in a Waitrose advert in the October edition of Good Food magazine. She also modelled for a fashion brand!

And my Scottie, Dougal, has been busy too. He’s already landed three jobs this since June—two photo shoots for high-end fashion brands and a video commercial for a gaming company (details coming soon!).

Trick training is more than just cute tricks—it’s about bonding with your pup in a fun, pressure-free way. Ready to get started? Follow along for more fun and inspiration!
